Court Security
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Court Services Division includes the Civil Unit and the Court Security Unit.
The Court Security Unit provides law enforcement services and protection to judges, court officials, defendants, jurors, witnesses and the general public while they are in the county's courthouses.
Each year, the Court Security Unit escorts nearly 40,000 inmates to court and escorts approximately 2,000 patients to mental health court. The unit also manages four fingerprint and digital mug shot equipment stations.

The Court Security Unit is also in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Explosive Detection Canine Program. There are HCSO/ATF canines assigned to the unit. These canines have successfully completed assignments within the court facilities and provide their services to the law enforcement agencies throughout Hennepin County and the region. Our canine teams are often called upon by the Unites States Secret Service to assist them with dignitary protection details.
