Warrant Apprehension Unit partnerships
The Warrant Apprehension Unit also continues its partnership with the Juvenile Criminal Apprehension Team (JCAT) initiative along with Hennepin County Community Corrections (Probation Services). The Warrant Unit also has an ongoing partnership with the Minnesota Violent Crime/Fugitive Task Force (MVC/FTF). The primary objective is to significantly contribute to a reduction of serious violent crime by locating and arresting the most violent fugitives.
The Suburban Juvenile Initiative (SJI) started field operations in 2008. SJI’s apprehends juveniles with arrest warrants. In 2008, SJI made 300 arrests and another 45 juveniles reported to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center after being actively sought by SJI. In addition, the Warrant Unit has a partnership with Hennepin County Juvenile Probation for the Gun Offender Program (GOP) for juveniles. In this detail, deputies help keep probation officers safe during their visits to offenders’ homes.
A Warrant Unit deputy continues to be assigned to the Minnesota Fugitive Task Force, a high-profile, multi-agency team that tracks down and arrests the Twin Cities' most violent fugitives.
