Heroin/Drug Prevention

The use of heroin and illegal prescription pills is a public safety crisis nationwide.  The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is committed to investigating and arresting individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.  In addition, the Sheriff's Office encourages education, prevention and treatment in order to reduce abuse and addiction. To learn more about this issue, watch the video, "Medicine: It Cures, It Kills."

To reduce the risk of prescription medication abuse, residents are urged to store their medicines in a secure place in their home.  For expired or unwanted medicine, residents should properly dispose of them.  The Sheriff's Office has six locations for disposal boxes.   Click here for locations and hours for disposal. Or, you may call 612-348-3777.
