Where do I go?
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Central Records located in the lower level of the Public Safety Facility, 401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415.

What are the hours of operation?
We are open for business 7 days a week, including holidays, between the hours of:

Monday - Friday 6:00 AM -10:00 AM

Monday - Friday 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Saturday and Sunday 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM

The fingerprint process itself can take up to ½ hour, but your wait could be longer depending on the number of individuals waiting to be printed. 

How much does it cost?
The cost for the public fingerprinting service is $15.  If you do not supply a fingerprint card there is an additional $1.00 charge per card.  Cash only.  You must have exact change.  No debit/credit cards will be accepted.

Who can be fingerprinted?
We will provide fingerprinting services for adoptions, job applications, identification, immigration and any other reason.  

What do I need to bring with me?
- A valid government issued I.D. card that has not expired.

·         State-issued driver’s license

·         State-issued ID card

·         U.S. Passport

·         U.S. Active Duty/Retiree/Reservist military ID card

·         INS I-551 Resident Alien Card

·         INS I-668 Temporary Resident Identification Card

·         INS I-668B or I-766 Employment Authorization Card

·         U.S. Tribal ID card

(If your ID is expired, remember to bring your renewal slip or you will not be able to get fingerprinted.)

- The required blank fingerprint card(s). If you were not given a blank card, we can provide a basic fingerprint card for an additional charge of $1 per card.  We can only print on an actual fingerprint card, not on a paper copy.  Do not fill out or sign the fingerprint card before you arrive.                                                                                                                                                                                 

Any special instructions?

Fingerprinting is done only electronically (via Live Scan).  Ink printing is not available

2.    Hands must be clean and free of any dye, henna, oil, etc. 

3.    You must remove all rings in order to be fingerprinted as they can scratch the equipment.

4.    Strollers and car seat carriers are not allowed past the lobby.  Please make arrangements for your children as you will not be able to hold them and be fingerprinted at the same time.

Under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Statute, Section 13.87, fingerprints are considered private data. Fingerprint cards can only be given to the subject of the fingerprints or to a governmental entity.
