PREA- Prison Rape Elimination Act

PREA is a federal law established to prevent sexual assault and rape in detention facilities.

PREA applies to all federal and state prisons, jails, police lock-ups, private facilities, and community settings such as residential facilities.

PREA seeks to ensure that jails and other correctional settings protect inmates from sexual assault and rape from other inmates and employees

If you have reason to believe there is an immediate threat of sexual assault toward an inmate, please call 612-596-8010 and ask for the Jail Command Center Sergeant, or call 911.
