What we do

State law mandates that the sheriff’s office “keep and preserve the peace of the county.” This mandate includes county jail management and district court security.

We create a variety of initiatives. These include inmate education, opioid overdose prevention, and water and ice safety.

We aim to provide the best possible public safety services to everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Hennepin County.
