Population
Annex: The transfer of an individual(s) to another detention or correctional facility while still maintaining custody status under the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
Approved capacity: The total number of beds approved for the facility.
Operational capacity: The total number of beds that the facility ideally operates at in order to work within its classification system and for completing regular maintenance and projects.
Offense level
Felony: A crime for which a sentence of imprisonment for more than one year may be imposed.
Misdemeanor: A crime for which a sentence of not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than $1,000, or both, may be imposed.
Gross misdemeanor: Any crime that is not a felony or a misdemeanor. The maximum fine that may be imposed for a gross misdemeanor is $3,000.
Probable cause: The belief that an offense has been committed and that the person arrested committed it. The facts establishing probable cause must be submitted to the Court under oath.
Case type
Person: Crimes involving an act against a person, such as robbery, assault, or acts of violence.
Property: Crimes involving the loss or diminished value of property, such as theft, burglary, or damage to property.
Weapons: Crimes specifically related to the possession of certain weapons by ineligible persons.
Drugs: Crimes pertaining to the possession and sale of controlled substances.
Domestic assault: Crimes committed by a suspect in an established relationship with the victim through either fear or physical harm.
Societal conduct: Crimes against the rules of society, including disorderly conduct, public intoxication/urination, or lewd conduct.
Criminal sexual/obscenity: Crimes against a person that are specifically sexual in nature, such as rape, sodomy, or molestation.
DWI: A specific crime related to the operation of a motorized vehicle while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or prescription medications. This may include cars, boats, snowmobiles and ATV’s.
Holds: Legal orders from a court to detain a person to await judgement or an appearance in a court of law. This may include court order violation holds, probation and parole violations, and warrants for arrests from another jurisdiction.
Traffic: Offenses specifically related to the operation of a motor vehicle on a roadway. Typically, these issues are resolved through payable fines after a citation is issued.
