HCSO Releases Body-Worn Camera Video

Today, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is releasing video from the body-worn cameras (BWCs) that captured the officer-involved shooting that took place in Minnetonka on April 10, 2024. The BWC footage shows an exchange of gunfire between HCSO deputies and Clint Hoyhtya, 28, of Minnetonka, who died from gunfire. Deputy Christopher Heihn was also shot during the incident and was transported to the hospital for treatment of significant injuries. He was released the following day.

According to the statement issued by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Hoyhtya started shooting at HCSO deputies with an assault-style rifle after deputies knocked and announced their presence at the home in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. Video of the incident can be viewed here and contains excerpts from the footage captured by the BWCs worn by HCSO Deputies Christopher Heihn, Keith McNamara, Tyler Jacob, and Steven Tomasko.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident, including our deputies, the officers and emergency responders who arrived to support our agency, those living near the site, and the family of Mr. Hoyhtya. We hope the release of this video provides some clarity as we try to understand this tragic incident," said Sheriff Dawanna Witt.
